Assistant Professor, Department of Cyber Security, from Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam, is accepting interns interested in the field of Electrical Engineering, in the research area of Cyber Systems and Security.

The increasing reliance on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for critical applications such as surveillance, disaster response, and smart farming necessitates robust multi-layered security mechanisms. This internship provides students with an opportunity to explore, design, and implement security frameworks for UAVs, ensuring protection across multiple layers—physical, network, communication, and data. Interns will gain hands-on experience in identifying vulnerabilities and developing countermeasures against various attack vectors, including GPS spoofing, signal jamming, cyber-attacks, and data breaches. Participants will work on real-world use cases, such as secure 5G-enabled UAV communications, UAV-to-Vehicle (UAV-V2X) interactions, and encryption techniques for UAV swarms. This internship covers critical concepts like cryptographic protocols, secure UAV communication using NOMA, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) for secure UAV communication. Interns will also explore secure boot mechanisms, firmware integrity, and attack detection using AI/ML algorithms.
