Membership and Application Guidelines

Research Internships at Konnifel have a common and single Application Process

To apply for the internships posted at Konnifel, there is a single, standard membership and application process. Candidates are to use this guide to understand the application process. The Membership and Application process has 4 stages. After and based on the completion of the stages, a candidate is successfully enrolled and their verified and common application is created. Thereon, they can select all the internships that they want to send this application to, by clicking the apply button in the internship cards, removing the need for separate applications.

Steps of Enrollment:
  1. Fill the Membership and Application form.
  2. Submit the Membership and Examination Fee.
  3. Upload important documents
  4. Appear for Research Readiness and Aptitude Test.
With this, your Membership will be complete and your application will be created.
Step 1. Membership and Application Form

Candidates fill in their academic details, their research interest areas in which they desire internships and mention any skills that they may possess.

Step 2. Membership Fee

Candidates deposit a combined membership and RRAT Exam registration fee of INR Rs. 2470.
*The membership fee is a one-time fee and allows a candidate to apply for internships through Konnifel in perpetuity. (Refund Policy)

Step 3. Upload Documents

Candidates deposit documents supporting their mentioned academic details in the Membership and Application form. This is to ensure verified candidates and objectivity.

Step 4. Research Readiness and Aptitude Test (RRAT)

The last and most critical step in the application is the Research Readiness and Aptitude Test (RRAT), administered by Konnifel. This assessment tests every candidate on their knowledge, skills, sincerity and interest in interning in research through a Computer Test and an Online Interview. The maximum score on RRAT is 100 and the weightage is equally divided between the Computer test and the interview. This is done to ensure that skilled and sincere candidates are equally merited through the RRAT. Candidates are advised to have a thorough understanding of RRAT by clicking on the link below.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the Membership and Application Process.


Please explain the steps of application, leading to the internship.

Once you visit the Konnifel website, you can explore all the internships from the ‘All Internships’ page. From there, you can click on the ‘Enroll’ button on the top right corner of the page. Alternatively, you can also click on the ‘Enroll to Apply’ button on internship description pages. You fill the form, deposit the fees, upload documents, appear for the RRAT Test and with that your membership and application is complete and your verified Konnifel application will be created. Now, you just have to select the internships that you want to send your application to, by clicking on the ‘Apply’ Button on the internship description pages. You can add a Cover Letter at this stage, if you wish to but it is only optional, and your application can suffice. (Guidelines for writing an effective Cover Letter to Professor will be provided once you reach that stage)

What does a single application process mean?

You don’t have to create separate applications for each internship. After the membership and RRAT Assessment, your verified application is created. You are now only required to select the internships you want to apply to by clicking on the 'Apply' button on the different internship pages and your application gets transferred to the concerned professor. From here, your selection process begins.

Do I have to appear for the RRAT every time I want to apply for an internship?

Your RRAT Score is valid for 1.5 years. You can use the application with the same RRAT Score for 1.5 years. However, if you wish to improve your RRAT Score, you can re-attempt the test too.

What would be the place of assistance if I face any difficulty during the course of my membership or internship selection process on the platform?

Can I apply if I don't have any prior work experience or any papers published?

Answer: Yes, you can apply to internships if you don’t have any prior experience or publications. It's not a criterion to apply.

Can I apply if I am not a research student?

Yes, you can apply if you are not a research student, as long as you have an interest in the research field, have knowledge of your field of study, and wish to intern with professors.

What constitutes cheating or misconduct during the RRAT?

Any kind of external help while taking the RRAT is considered cheating. If a candidate tries to move out of the exam tab or is not on the exam tab for more than 10 seconds, the test will be automatically submitted and the candidate will move on to the next section.

How many times can I retake the RRAT?

RRAT can be attempted multiple times but the first two attempts can be consecutive submissions without any obligatory waiting period or additional fee, to give every candidate a chance to score their best. Third attempt onwards, each attempt can only be after a 30 day gap and will have an exam fee of INR ₹1250.
