Associate Professor from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Mechanical Engineering, in the research area of Robotics and Autonomous systems.

This internship offers a high-impact opportunity to work at the intersection of mechanical design and intelligent control. The program focuses on the development of Autonomous Systems, integrating advanced robotics hardware with sophisticated AI/ML algorithms to enable real-world navigation and task execution. Interns will explore the synergy between physical mechanical constraints and digital intelligence, contributing to projects that redefine how machines perceive and interact with their environments. Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in the hardware-software integration of robotic platforms, ensuring seamless communication between sensors and actuators. 2. Investigate and implement AI/ML models—such as Reinforcement Learning or Computer Vision—to improve robotic autonomy. 3. Perform mathematical modeling of robotic motion to optimize path planning and obstacle avoidance strategies. 4. Develop and refine virtual environments to test autonomous behaviors before deploying them on physical prototypes. 5. Record and analyze performance metrics during field tests to iterate on both mechanical and algorithmic designs.
