About Internship

Principal Scientist from ICAR National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Chemistry, in the research area of Organic chemistry.

This internship focuses on the application of organic chemistry in developing chemical sensor systems for effective and sustainable pest management. Chemical sensors play a crucial role in modern agriculture by enabling early detection, monitoring, and control of pest activity, thereby reducing crop damage and minimizing excessive pesticide use. Interns will engage in the design, synthesis, and evaluation of organic compounds that function as sensing elements for pest-related applications. The duration of this internship is 6 months but it can be extended upto 12 depending upon the requirements of the project. During the internship, students will: 1. Synthesize organic molecules and sensor materials relevant to pest detection and monitoring. 2. Perform laboratory characterization and validation of synthesized sensor compounds. 3. Assist in designing and conducting field trials to evaluate sensor performance under real agricultural conditions. 4. Analyze experimental and field data to assess sensitivity, selectivity, and reliability of the developed sensors. 5. Maintain proper experimental records and contribute to documentation and reporting of results. 6. Support ongoing research activities related to sustainable pest management technologies. By the end of the internship, interns will gain: 1. Hands-on experience in organic synthesis and functional material development. 2. Practical exposure to sensor validation and field trial methodologies. 3. An understanding of how chemical sensors are applied in agricultural and environmental problem-solving. 4. Experience bridging laboratory research with real-world field applications. 5. Improved skills in experimental analysis, scientific documentation, and applied chemical research.
