Assistant Professor from Azim Premji University, Bangalore, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Economics, in the research area of Development Economics.
This research internship offers a deep dive into the structural drivers of economic growth and the complexities of fiscal management in developing economies. The project explores the intersection of Public Finance and Political Economy, analyzing how government stability and policy frameworks influence macroeconomic stability. Interns will work on the front lines of evidence-based research, investigating how fiscal constraints and political institutions shape the trajectory of national development in an increasingly volatile global market. Roles and Responsibilities : 1. Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to identify gaps in current Development Macroeconomics theory and summarize key findings for the research team. 2. Execute the end-to-end process of collecting, cleaning, and organizing large datasets to ensure high-quality inputs for econometric modeling. 3. Assist in performing rigorous statistical tests, including linear regressions and robustness checks, to validate research hypotheses. 4. Support the drafting and editing of research paper sections, ensuring that empirical results are clearly linked back to established economic theory. Learning Outcomes : 1. Gain practical experience in executing empirical research and robustness testing using industry-standard statistical software (such as Stata, R, or Python). 2. Develop a sophisticated understanding of how political institutions and public finance decisions dictate macroeconomic outcomes. 3. Learn the complete lifecycle of a research paper, from initial data cleaning to final manuscript submission for a peer-reviewed journal.
