Assistant Professor from Teerthanker Mahaveer University, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Psychology, in the research area of Forensic Psychology .
This internship focuses on the systematic study of suicide from a forensic psychology perspective, with an emphasis on understanding its underlying causes and developing evidence-based prevention strategies. Suicide is a complex phenomenon influenced by psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors. Through this internship, students will explore how these factors interact and how forensic psychological research can contribute to effective prevention frameworks. During the internship, students will: 1. Conduct an in-depth review of national and international literature on suicide trends, risk factors, and prevention models. 2. Analyze suicide-related data from India and other countries to identify recurring psychological, social, and environmental patterns. 3. Examine underlying factors such as stress, mental health conditions, social pressures, trauma, and systemic challenges that contribute to suicidal behavior. 4. Engage in field-based learning, which may include supervised visits to hospitals, mental health institutions, interactions with medical professionals, law enforcement personnel, and, where appropriate, discussions with families affected by suicide (following ethical guidelines). 5. Develop research questions, design analytical frameworks, and interpret findings using forensic and psychological perspectives. 6. Prepare and draft a research manuscript suitable for submission to a Scopus-indexed journal under the guidance of the mentor. By the end of the internship, students will gain: 1. A comprehensive understanding of suicide from a forensic psychology and mental health perspective. 2. Practical experience in psychological research, field investigation, ethical data handling, and academic writing. 3. Exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration involving psychology, healthcare, and law enforcement systems. 4. Experience in the complete research publication process, including manuscript preparation and submission. 5. An opportunity to co-author a research paper with the supervising mentor. Publication in a Scopus-indexed journal is mandatory for the successful completion of the internship, and certification will be awarded only upon publication. Publication-related expenses will be borne by the student(s).
