About Internship

Professor from Shri Vitthalrao Shankarrao Naik Arts, Commerce and Science College, Maharashtra, is accepting interns interested in the field of Physics, in the research area of Nanoscale Physics.

This internship focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of oxide and perovskite-based materials to explore their potential in gas, humidity, and temperature sensing applications. The study aims to develop advanced sensing materials with high sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and fast response time, which are critical for modern environmental monitoring and industrial process control. The candidate will be responsible for the systematic synthesis of metal oxides (such as ZnO, SnO2, TiO2) and perovskite materials (such as ABO3-type compounds: BaTiO3, SrFeO3, etc.) using various physical and chemical techniques including sol–gel, hydrothermal, co-precipitation, and solid-state routes. Optimization of synthesis parameters—such as temperature, pH, doping concentration, and calcination conditions—will be carried out to control particle size, morphology, and crystallinity, which directly influence sensing performance. Further, the candidate will perform structural, morphological, and optical characterizations using XRD, SEM, TEM, UV–Vis, and impedance spectroscopy. Fabrication of sensor devices and testing under controlled gas and environmental conditions will be done to evaluate performance metrics such as response, recovery time, and long-term stability. The research outcome is expected to contribute to the development of low-cost, eco-friendly, and efficient oxide–perovskite hybrid sensors with potential applications in IoT-based smart sensing systems. Role and Responsibilities of Candidate: 1. Synthesize oxide and perovskite materials using suitable chemical routes. 2. Characterize materials and analyze structural–property relationships. 3. Fabricate and test sensing devices. 4. Interpret data, optimize materials for improved performance, and document findings for publications.
