About Internship

Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, from K j somaiya college of engineering , is accepting interns interested in the field of Chemistry, in the research area of Green Chemistry.

The selected intern will get to work on a real-world environmental sustainability challenge — the recovery of valuable organic solvents such as N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) and N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) from pharmaceutical wastewater streams. The project aims to develop and optimize efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly techniques for solvent recovery using physical, chemical, and membrane-based processes. Key Objectives: Study the composition and characteristics of pharmaceutical effluents containing DMF and DMAc Investigate methods for solvent separation and purification (e.g., distillation, adsorption, membrane filtration) Evaluate recovery efficiency, solvent purity, and process sustainability Explore the feasibility of recycling recovered solvents in industrial operations Learning Outcomes: Hands-on experience with analytical techniques (e.g., GC, UV-Vis, FTIR) Understanding of industrial wastewater treatment and solvent recovery processes Exposure to environmental compliance and green chemistry principles Report writing, data analysis, and presentation skills
