Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, from Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Visakhapatnam (GITM Visakhapatnam), is accepting interns interested in the field of Computer Science Engineering, in the research area of Natural language Processing.

This internship centers on the development of explainable AI models aimed at detecting mental health conditions—specifically depression—through the analysis of social media posts. With mental health detection from digital footprints emerging as a vital research area, this project explores both conventional and deep learning techniques to identify signs of psychological distress. The proposed methodology includes a BERT and Bi-LSTM pipeline, along with a fine-tuned RoBERTa-based model for more accurate and nuanced classification of mental states. Additionally, seven traditional machine learning and eight deep learning models are investigated for benchmarking purposes. Model performance is rigorously validated on two publicly available datasets, with a focus on achieving interpretability alongside accuracy. The selected research interns shall work on the same project.
