About Internship

Assistant Professor, Department of Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies, from Manipal University, Jaipur , is accepting interns interested in the field of English Literature, in the research area of Climate change literature and sustainability Internship.

This internship offers an interdisciplinary investigation into the representation of trauma and memory resulting from climate change and forced migration in contemporary English literature. Interns will explore how modern narratives depict ecological devastation, loss of home, intergenerational memory, and the psychological repercussions of displacement. Focusing on texts from the late 20th century to the present, interns will engage with works such as: Flight Behaviour by Barbara Kingsolver – exploring ecological crisis and cultural denial in rural Appalachia The Overstory by Richard Powers – tracing collective memory through ecological trauma and environmental activism American War by Omar El Akkad – a speculative fiction mapping climate-induced civil war and refugee trauma in a future America The Road by Cormac McCarthy – portraying a desolate post-apocalyptic landscape and the lingering memory of loss Selected short stories from Anthropocene Fictions or New Climate Fiction anthologies Interns will conduct close readings, compile bibliographies, write analytical reflections, and may contribute to a collaborative research project or digital archive documenting literary responses to climate migration. This internship is ideal for students of literature, environmental humanities, or trauma studies with an interest in the intersections of narrative, memory, and ecological crisis.
