Professor from Madeira University, Portugal, is accepting interns interested in the field of Economics, in the research area of Development Economics.
This internship focuses on understanding economic inequality from a development economics perspective, examining disparities in income, wealth, access to resources, and social outcomes across regions and populations. Economic inequality is a central issue in development policy, influencing growth, social mobility, and long-term economic stability. Through this internship, interns will engage in evidence-based research to explore the causes, trends, and implications of inequality using both theoretical frameworks and empirical data. During the internship, students will: 1. Conduct an in-depth literature review on economic inequality, poverty, and development-related themes using academic journals, policy reports, and global datasets. 2.Collect and organize secondary data from reliable sources. 3. Assist in cleaning, managing, and preparing datasets for empirical analysis. 4. Perform quantitative analysis using tools such as R and Stata to examine inequality indicators, trends, and correlations. 5. Support the interpretation of analytical results and contribute to the preparation of tables, graphs, and summary findings. 6. Assist in drafting research notes, working papers, or policy-oriented summaries under guidance. By the end of the internship, interns will gain: 1. A strong conceptual understanding of economic inequality within the framework of development economics. 2. Practical experience in data handling, statistical analysis, and the use of business analytics tools. 3. Hands-on exposure to R and Stata for applied economic research. 4. Research writing and analytical skills relevant for careers in economics, public policy, development research, and analytics roles.
