Professor and Head from CMS College Kottayam, Kerala, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of English Literature, in the research area of Indian Writing in English.

This internship offers an academic and research-oriented introduction to Indian Writing in English, a significant literary field that explores India’s cultural, historical, social, and political realities through English-language literature. The internship focuses on understanding major themes, literary movements, authors, and critical perspectives that have shaped Indian English literature from the colonial period to contemporary times. During the internship, students will: 1. Conduct guided literary research on selected Indian English authors, texts, and genres (novels, poetry, drama, essays). 2. Read and critically analyze primary literary works and relevant secondary sources such as research papers, critiques, and book chapters. 3. Explore themes such as identity, nationalism, postcolonialism, diaspora, gender, caste, and globalization in Indian English writing. 4. Learn basic literary research methodologies, including textual analysis and thematic interpretation. 5. Assist in preparing research notes, summaries, and short analytical write-ups. 6. Participate in discussions and reviews to refine critical thinking and academic articulation. By the end of the internship, students will gain: 1. A strong conceptual understanding of Indian Writing in English and its literary significance. 2. Improved skills in literary analysis, academic reading, and research-based writing. 3. Exposure to scholarly research practices in English literature. 4. Enhanced critical thinking and interpretative abilities useful for higher studies, research, and teaching. 5.
