Assistant Professor from Institute of Health Management Research, Bengaluru, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Public Health, in the research area of Aging and Gerontology.
This internship is a deep dive into Community-Based Gerontology, focusing on the health outcomes and social dynamics of the aging population. The project utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data with qualitative insights to understand the challenges of elderly health. Candidates will move beyond the classroom into active fieldwork, engaging directly with participants to gather the raw narratives and data that drive public health policy. This role is ideal for those looking to build a portfolio in fieldwork, manuscript preparation, and evidence-based social intervention. Roles & Responsibilities 1. Execute both quantitative and qualitative data gathering protocols within community settings. 2. Support and conduct In-Depth Interviews (IDI) with elderly participants, ensuring cultural sensitivity and ethical standards. 3. Perform comprehensive literature searches and documentation to provide the theoretical framework for ongoing studies. 4. Provide baseline support for data analysis, assisting in the organization and interpretation of field findings. 5. Assist in the preparation of research reports and contribute to the writing of academic manuscripts for potential publication. 6. Facilitate communication and build rapport with elderly participants, utilizing bilingual proficiency (Kannada and English) to ensure data integrity. Minimum Qualifications 1. Currently pursuing a Postgraduate degree (MPH / MSW / MBA-Health Management). 2. Strong communication skills in Kannada (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and English are mandatory for field interaction. 3. A demonstrated passion for Aging and Gerontology and a basic understanding of mixed-method research methodologies.
