Scientist B from Central Silk Technological Research Institute, Bengaluru, is accepting interns interested in the field of Textile Engineering, in the research area of Application of Silk .

This internship focuses on exploring the expanding role of silk beyond traditional textiles, particularly its application in technical textiles and emerging non-textile domains. With its unique properties such as biocompatibility, strength, breathability, and sustainability, silk is increasingly being studied for use in activewear, smart clothing, and functional textile systems. The internship aims to familiarize students with contemporary research trends and innovative applications of silk-based materials in advanced textile engineering. The duration of this project is 6 months, but it can be extended upto 12 months depending on the requirements. During the internship, students will: 1. Study the fundamental properties of silk relevant to technical and functional textile applications. 2. Conduct literature reviews on the use of silk in activewear, smart clothing, and performance-enhancing textile products. 3. Propose new concepts and innovative applications of silk in non-traditional textile domains. 4. Assist in designing research frameworks and feasibility analyses for silk-based technical textiles. 5. Prepare structured research documentation, concept notes, and periodic progress reports. 6. Participate in discussions and reviews to refine ideas and research outcomes. By the end of the internship, students will gain: 1. A strong understanding of silk as a material for technical and smart textile applications. 2. Exposure to research methodologies used in advanced textile innovation. 3. Experience in concept development, research proposal writing, and technical reporting. 4.
