The internship involves exploring catalyst-driven organic transformations, reaction mechanisms, and strategies for improving the efficiency and selectivity of chemical processes. A key research component is the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO?) into cyclic carbonates, an important area of sustainable chemistry that aims to utilize CO? as a valuable chemical feedstock. The work provides exposure to catalyst design, organic synthesis, reaction optimization, characterization techniques, and the principles of green and sustainable chemistry.
