About Internship

Professor from Dr M.G.R. Educational and research institute, Chennai, is accepting interns interested in the field of Mechanical Engineering, in the research area of Digital Twin Modeling.

This internship provides hands-on experience in the rapidly growing field of Digital Twin technology, where physical industrial systems are replicated in virtual environments for monitoring, optimization, and predictive analysis. Interns will work on creating Modelica-based simulation models of real-world production systems and learn how digital twins enhance efficiency, safety, and automation in modern manufacturing. During the internship, students will: 1. Develop simulation models of mechanical and production systems using Modelica. 2. Work with MATLAB/Simulink to support dynamic modeling and system behavior analysis. 3. Understand and integrate Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) concepts for machine connectivity. 4. Explore OPC-UA communication protocols for industrial data exchange. 5. Gain exposure to PLC-based automation and its interaction with digital twin platforms. 6. Assist in testing, validating, and refining virtual system models based on real operational data. 7. Participate in regular review meetings to discuss model performance, troubleshooting, and improvements. By the end of the internship, interns will gain: 1. Practical experience in Digital Twin development, industrial modeling, and simulation workflows. 2. A strong understanding of cyber-physical systems, IIoT frameworks, and industrial communication standards. 3. Hands-on skills in Modelica, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLC-integrated system design. 4. Exposure to modern manufacturing technologies and smart factory concepts.
