Assistant Professor, Department of Law, from Symbiosis International University, Pune, is accepting interns interested in the field of Law, in the research area of Criminal Law.

This one-month research internship invites students to undertake an empirical and humanitarian investigation into the impact of life imprisonment on aging convicts. Focused on individuals who have spent extensive periods in incarceration, the project aims to examine the psychological, physical, and social implications of lifelong sentencing. Interns will collect empirical data through structured interviews, case files, or institutional records (as available), and interpret this data using statistical tools, including bar diagram representations, to identify patterns and disparities. The research will also critically explore what the law seeks to achieve through such sentencing, and what support, rehabilitation, or reformative mechanisms—if any—exist for aged life convicts. The broader goal is to evaluate how criminal law interacts with human dignity, aging, and familial estrangement, and whether the legal system provides or denies meaningful support to long-term inmates.
