Associate Professor from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Law, in the research area of Criminal Law.
This internship explores the intersection of technology and criminal law, with a particular focus on the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the criminal justice system. As digital technologies increasingly influence policing, investigation, adjudication, and sentencing, understanding their legal, ethical, and constitutional implications has become essential. This internship provides interns with an opportunity to critically examine how AI tools are reshaping criminal justice processes and the challenges they pose for fairness, accountability, and the rule of law. During the internship, interns will: 1. Study the application of AI technologies in criminal justice, including predictive policing, facial recognition, risk assessment algorithms, and digital evidence analysis. 2. Conduct literature reviews of legal cases, statutes, policy documents, and scholarly research related to technology and criminal law. 3. Analyze legal, ethical, and human rights concerns arising from the use of AI in law enforcement and judicial decision-making. 4. Assist in drafting research notes, policy briefs, case summaries, or academic manuscripts under guidance. 5. Participate in discussions on regulatory frameworks, judicial oversight, and safeguards for the responsible use of AI in criminal justice systems. 6. Support documentation and structured writing related to ongoing legal research projects. By the end of the internship, interns will gain: 1. A strong conceptual understanding of how AI is used within criminal justice systems. 2. Insight into contemporary legal debates surrounding technology, surveillance, privacy, and due process. 3. Practical experience in legal research, case analysis, and academic or policy-oriented writing. 4. Enhanced critical thinking skills at the intersection of law, technology, and ethics. 5. Exposure to emerging areas of legal practice and research relevant to digital governance and criminal law reform.
