Bio-engineeringAbout Internship
Associate Professor from Lovely Professional University, India, is accepting interns interested in the field of Biotech Engineering, in the research area of Bio-engineering.
This internship offers candidates an opportunity to explore the biotechnology and engineering principles behind modern wastewater treatment systems. Interns will learn how biological, chemical, and physical processes work together to remove pollutants from industrial and municipal wastewater. The internship focuses on both theoretical understanding and practical data-driven analysis, making it ideal for students interested in environmental biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, and sustainable water management. During the internship, students will: 1. Conduct a Comprehensive Literature Review Review wastewater treatment technologies such as Activated Sludge Process (ASP), Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR), Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), Ultrafiltration/Reverse Osmosis (UF/RO), anaerobic digestion, and other biological treatment methods. Summarize key findings from research papers, government documents, technical manuals, and online scientific databases. Compare treatment efficiencies, microbial mechanisms, reaction kinetics, and operational parameters across technologies. 2. Analyze Real Plant Operational Data Work with actual historical process data (e.g., BOD, COD, MLSS, DO, flow rate, ammonia, nitrate, pH, and other performance indicators). Perform data cleaning, visualization, and trend identification using Excel, Python, or R. Interpret system behavior, detect inefficiencies, and correlate biological performance with operational conditions. Contribute to technical insights that support process optimization and sustainability. By the end of the internship, students will gain: 1. A strong understanding of biological wastewater treatment methods and their engineering principles. 2. Practical skills in environmental data analysis, wastewater performance evaluation, and scientific reporting. 3. Experience with Excel/Python/R for interpreting real-world plant datasets. 4. Enhanced research abilities through structured literature review and technical documentation. 5. Exposure to industrial wastewater treatment challenges and sustainability-focused biotechnology applications.
