About Internship

Assistant Professor, Department of English Literature, from Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi , is accepting interns interested in the field of English Literature, in the research area of Literary criticism.

A “Critical Theory and Interpretation” internship in Literary Criticism will offer hands-on experience in analysing literature through various theoretical lenses. Interns will engage with texts using approaches like Feminism, Marxism, Postcolonialism, Psychoanalytic Criticism, and Reader-Response Theory to uncover deeper meanings and socio-cultural implications. The role shall involve close reading, researching historical and cultural contexts, and applying critical frameworks to interpret themes, characters, and narrative structures. Interns shall also be drafting analytical essays, preparing presentations, and contributing to academic discussions, honing skills in argumentation and evidence-based interpretation. Tasks could include reviewing scholarly articles, summarising critical perspectives, and exploring intertextual connections between works. Interns may also participate in seminars or workshops to discuss theorists like Adorno, Foucault, or Kristeva, gaining insight into how ideology, power, and identity shape literature. This internship will foster critical thinking, research proficiency, and an understanding of how literature reflects and challenges societal norms. It is ideal for students and early-career scholars aiming to deepen their expertise in literary studies, preparing them for roles in academia, publishing, or cultural analysis. The experience will emphasise the dynamic interplay between texts and their broader philosophical and political contexts.
