RRAT is used as a metric for college students and aspiring researchers while applying for research internships, research assistantships, fellowships and other research positions through Konnifel. RRAT is mandatory for applying for research internships under Professors and Researchers through Konnifel. The purpose of RRAT is to test a candidate’s readiness and aptitude for research and to give research institutes, senior professors, mentors and organizations a common data point to assess all applicants.
The RRAT is an online test, administered all around the year and students can appear for the RRAT on any of the allotted days of the week by Konnifel. The days are Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.
RRAT can be attempted multiple times and the first two attempts can be consecutive submissions without any obligatory waiting period or additional fee, to give every candidate a chance to score their best. Third attempt onwards, each attempt can only be after a 30 day gap and will have an exam fee of INR ₹1250.
Your RRAT Score is valid for 1.5 years.

The time duration of the RRAT varies according to the education level of the student and the number of skills selected by them. On average, the RRAT is 1.5 to 2 hours long, including the Test and the Interview.
The objective behind RRAT is to give every student a level playing field-skilled candidates as well as those that may be at an earlier stage of skill development but have a high interest and passion for research. Therefore, the Computer Test and the Online Interview carry equal weightage and are scored out of 50 each. Your total RRAT score is the sum of both the scores. The highest possible RRAT score is 100.
